The last meeting was on Tuesday
13 October 2009 in the lower school library, chaired
by Joy Andrews (assistant principal) and Michelle Beute (parent
governor)..
The agenda was:

Welcome and introductions

Some of the suggestions made were:

Improving the website
to make it more up to date with recent events . Some activities
never appear at all eg Activities week photos and articles

Having a forum or chatroom
in the website for parents to exchange Qs and information
-
Providing parents
with more opportunities to get involved with the school eg
helping on visits, with the library after school, running
quiz nights and car boot sales, international evenings and
talent shows, BBQ night
-
Information on the
website of who to contact , and how, about certain things
eg - appointments , lost property, homework issues etc
-
Fund raising ideas
using cake sales , bring and buy sales etc to buy a specific
item the school needs
-
Welcome evening for
not just Y7 but Y8 and 9 too
-
Welcome evening for
Y7 needs to be 30m longer
-
How can families find
out about more the new building programme for 2010-2012
-
What clubs are running
and when, where and by whom?
A small group of parents offered their
contact details to Ms Beute to meet again soon to plan some
events, based on these suggestions, for this year
The next meeting with be on Tuesday
15 December at 6pm in the sixth form building Room
004 to look at the new building proposals and an opportunity
to look inside the new gym
Aims of the Dunraven PTA

Our aim is to further
support a child’s success at Dunraven and beyond by
strengthening the partnership between parents and the school.
The purpose of the Dunraven Parent
Teacher Association (DPTA) is to:
-
Promote and encourage
a close cooperation between parents, teachers, students
and governors
-
Support and enhance
communication between parents and the school
-
Offer parents the
opportunity to participate and contribute to Dunraven’s
on-going success
-
Strengthen links
between existing parents whilst encouraging new parents
to become actively involved in the life of the school
-
Organise a range
of events where parents can meet each other and staff
both formally and informally
-
Assist the school
at various social and curriculum events
-
Support fundraising
projects

The DPTA meets regularly throughout the school
year. Please read the school website and newsletters for further
details of forthcoming events.
If you have any queries or suggestions/ideas

and label your email ‘ For the attention of the DPTA’.
The term ‘parent’
includes any individual who has parental responsibility for,
or cares for a child under the age of 19 registered at the school.
The next meeting of
the DPTA is on Tuesday 13 October 2009 from 6.00- 7.00 pm in
lower school library. This will be a planning meeting for the
year ahead. Ms Andrews will chair the meeting, and Ms Beute,
parent governor, will co-chair. All are welcome.
